Woz Rimmer
i got into music at the age of 13 , i hated tv so listened to the radio when i got home from school, when i got to 15 one of my school friends Oliver Spencer was a roadie for a well known Southport Dj Dave Blair.
so i went to a few gigs helping Oliver and Dave doing weddings and party's around the northwest ,by now the dj bug had got me.
Oliver went on to be a wedding dj and i went down the club dj route as i loved the club sound.
My first taste of djing was in a pub in atherton where i used to be a rodie for Dave Blair, there was a function room on the top floor of the pub painted black with disco lighting installed in there, they had a dj playing dance music 90's style rave.
i went over and asked if i could have a go, so i went on to play a few records which i beat mixed together. The people dancing in the room loved my style and song choices and wanted me back the week after.
From then on i got to play many venues for free of cause as i wanted to get my foot in the door, the venues i worked in my early dj career where
Sticky Whickets, Kingsway, Cconservatory club, Raphaels, Never on a Sunday (Blackpool)
Later on in my career;
Club qdos , Astoria , Club code, Quid pro quo , Old bank, West end , Bar sugar , Club velvet, The beach bar....and many more.
Around the age of 20 i met Danny Bee, who was a great inspiration to me and is still a great friend to date.
He got me to come to see him djing at Rock Fm and some outside broadcasts, he also got me involved in Friday night live. which i got to do some hot mixes for the live shows direct from the clubs: Utopia Blackburn, Palace Blackpool.
i also made a few hot mixes for the Danny Bee'S Old Skool Sunday show. I also met a good friend Baz Todd. He also got me to come along to do some live mix sets from the syndicate in Blackpool.
I also made a few hot mixes for Baz Todd's Old Skool show on Rock Fm. At the age of 21/22 i went on a night out to Liverpool to go to the Cream nightclub.
The Dj's on the night where Paul Van Dyk and Paul Oakenfold this was the best clubnight i had ever been on and the music was much different than i had heard before. They played trance and house music. To this day Paul Oakenfold is my Favourite Dj and has been a big inspiration to my dj'ing career.
i have now retired from dj'ing in nightclubs but still love mixing dance music old and new which you will hear in my shows.
i now specialize in mobile discos now catering for all age groups and party styles from weddings to birthday partIes.
As you will see on my Facebook page 'Woz Rimmer Mobile Disco' you will see i still love my lighting and sound that has been inspired from my nigtclub days.
My show on mighty Southport Radio will consist a mix of my favourite classic and new dance tracks from the 90's 00's and now ;)
Enjoy
